THEATER: Defending The Caveman

Saturday, Dec. 26

Geico's commercials featuring cavemen shed light on an emotional side not typically associated with Neanderthals. But the humorous production of Defending The Caveman takes emotions to a whole 'nother level. It highlights the complicated relationships between men and women and suggests that sometimes opposite sexes just can't "get" each other (you know, emotionally), however tightly they may be holding each other's hands. The play doesn't offer any Flintstone vitamins, but it does have its own bedrock of insights into the world of relationships. $29.50 and up. Dec. 26, 8 p.m.; Dec. 27, 3 p.m.; Dec. 28-31, 7:30 p.m. Booth Playhouse, 130 N. Tryon St. 704-372-1000. www.blumenthalcenter.org.
