Blumenthal Performing Arts Center presents Wicked, the untold story of the witches of Oz. Wicked is the tale of the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch, long before Dorothy ever came to Oz. This Tony Award-winning Broadway smash sold out for its Q.C. premiere at Ovens Auditorium in record time, but a day-of-performance lottery will be held for a limited number of seats. People wishing to participate must come to the Ovens Auditorium box office two hours before showtime where names will be entered to win one of 20 orchestra level seats at $25. Names will be called 30 minutes before showtime. Winners must have cash and valid ID to claim tickets. Lottery Tickets $25. April 9-20. Ovens Auditorium, 2700 E. Independence Blvd., 704-372-1000

  • On Saturday, Oct. 21, hundreds gathered at Camp North End on Statesville Avenue for Charlotte's first black alternative music festival. We captured some of the bands in action on stage, but mostly we surveyed the grounds as fans, families, vendors and more lounged around the sprawling, colorful Camp North End site.
