THEATER: Miss Coco Peru

Saturday, Dec. 6

A night of girlish gossip, rousing rants and colorful chit-chat awaits as Queen City Theatre Company brings storyteller and performer Miss Coco Peru aka Clinton Leupp (that's right, she's a he!) to McGlohon Theatre. Last year's show An Evening with Miss Coco Peru was a sell out, so be sure to get tickets fast if you plan on attending her newest show Ugly Coco. Who wouldn't want to hear what this popular she-man (who looks more like a desperate housewife) might have to say -- whatever it is this lil' femme fatale will have you whipped into listening. $34. 8 p.m. McGlohon Theatre, 345 N. College St. 704-372-1000. www.blumenthalcenter.org.

  • On Saturday, Oct. 21, hundreds gathered at Camp North End on Statesville Avenue for Charlotte's first black alternative music festival. We captured some of the bands in action on stage, but mostly we surveyed the grounds as fans, families, vendors and more lounged around the sprawling, colorful Camp North End site. It was a great day of music, food, fun, and sweet, autumn sunshine. (Photos by Mark Kemp)
