THEATER: Scrooge

Wed., Dec. 22

Children's Theatre of Charlotte is known around town for producing enjoyable shows for those in a one-digit age bracket. That said, it doesn't mean that adults can't find pleasure in its shows — which are minus the R-rated material. During its production of Scrooge — a musical version of Charles Dickens' holiday tale A Christmas Carol — you won't hear any foul four-letter words, but you will get an earful of "Bah humbug!" from one of the nastiest Ebenezer Scrooge's around (see photo). And on a creepy — and much needed — note, you'll see his haunting encounter with three ghosts of the past, present and future. $18-$24. Dec. 17, 7:30 p.m.; Dec. 18, 3 p.m. & 7:30 p.m.; Dec. 19, 2 p.m.; Dec. 22, 11 a.m. & 3 p.m.; Dec. 23, 3 p.m. McColl Family Theatre at ImaginOn, 300 East 7th St. 704-973-2828. www.ctcharlotte.org.
