THEATER:The Producers

Sunday, July 19

In Mel Brooks' The Producers two very different men become friends as they develop a plan to get rich by conning people into seeing a flop of a show. "Springtime for Hitler: A Gay Romp with Adolf and Eva at Berchtesgade" is the script they choose to carry out their plan. "I'm hysterical! I'm having hysterics! I'm hysterical! I can't stop when I get like this. I can't stop. I'm hysterical. Oh my god." This line from the original Producers film says it all about this uproarious rollercoaster ride of a show. Through July 25. $15-$21. July 19, 2:30 p.m.; July 23, 7 p.m.; July 24-25, 8 p.m. CPCC's Halton Theater, 1206 Elizabeth Ave. 704-330-6534. http://arts.cpcc.edu.

  • On Saturday, Oct. 21, hundreds gathered at Camp North End on Statesville Avenue for Charlotte's first black alternative music festival. We captured some of the bands in action on stage, but mostly we surveyed the grounds as fans, families, vendors and more lounged around the sprawling, colorful Camp North End site. It was a great day of music, food, fun, and sweet, autumn sunshine. (Photos by Mark Kemp)
