Things CL loves about the QC

BBQ, help groups and ice cream

The BBQ plate at Bubba's Barbecue on Sunset Road -- and I heart my mom. Happy Mother's Day!

-- Adam Saunders, IT guy

The abundance of groups devoted to helping others in Charlotte. Whatever the cause, there are so many organizations (Regional AIDS Interfaith Network, the Urban Ministry Center, Homeless Helping Homeless, etc.) in Charlotte that thrive on the diligent good-hearted efforts of the people who live here. This city doesn't have a reputation as a hotbed of social consciousness, but so many people work behind the scenes to help others.

-- Karen Shugart, staff writer

The locally owned Carolina Creamery (11300 Lawyers Road) in Mint Hill. Best place for a homemade ice cream fix -- other than mom's house, of course. It's like childhood in a cup (or waffle cone, if you so prefer.) The picnic tables are good for some eclectic people watching away from the city -- I once saw a horse and buggy pull up to the ATM across the street. Can you see that at a Dairy Queen? Didn't think so!
