Tuesday, January 31

Tomorrow has definitely come as Annie returns to Ovens Auditorium through Feb. 5. Production credits put this touring version on our A-list, with Annie lyricist Martin Charnin directing and Tony Award-winning set designer Ming Cho Lee bringing a new look to the show. Marissa O'Donnell is the neophyte queen of cuteness who prevailed in the cutthroat auditions for the title role. But it's Mackenzie Phillips, the bad girl of One Day at a Time fame, who's the most compelling draw, playing the gloriously trashy Lily St. Regis. Along with Rooster and Miss Hannigan, Lily is part of an unholy trinity of evildoers who provide welcome relief from the saccharine of FDR, Daddy Warbucks and Little Orphan. Except for the Friday and Saturday performances at 8pm, evening curtains are at a family-friendly 7:30pm through Sunday with weekend matinees at 2pm. Tickets are $20-$55. Call 704-372-1000.
