Two CL-sponsored events

Everybody needs a thrill

Cool people, tasty drinks, dope art, crazy films and the most eclectic blend of music in Charlotte: That's what you'll find at Pop Life -- the nightlife event brought to you by Creative Loafing and The Sol Kitchen. The fun goes down every damned Wednesday, starting April 30, at Loft 1523 (1523 Elizabeth Ave.) from 6 p.m. until the wheels fall off. Bring your ass, and have a ball.

Coming May 6, Creative Loafing, The Sol Kitchen and Generation Engage present their Primary Party. Count up election results while having a brewski. Free admission. 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. CANS Bar & Canteen, 500 W. 5th St.

  • On Saturday, Oct. 21, hundreds gathered at Camp North End on Statesville Avenue for Charlotte's first black alternative music festival. We captured some of the bands in action on stage, but mostly we surveyed the grounds as fans, families, vendors and more lounged around the sprawling, colorful Camp North End site. It was a great day of music, food, fun, and sweet, autumn sunshine. (Photos by Mark Kemp)
