Word On The Street

What did you think of the Observer's front-page coverage of the big bass fishing tournament last week?

James Marks
Website Designer
"Some people made fun of it, but I thought it was great. I mean, what else was going on in the world that would need to be on the front page?"

Matt Randleman
"Overall, it was OK, but I was hoping for a big special section like they do for Race Week with a guide to the lake - you know, how to avoid the polluted parts, things like that."

Sheila Steesma
Cometics Consultant
"Well, when I realized they weren't going to catch the Loch Wylie monster or something cool like that, I kind of like, lost interest."

Ernestine Jolley
Transportation Engineer
"Don't get me started."

  • On Saturday, Oct. 21, hundreds gathered at Camp North End on Statesville Avenue for Charlotte's first black alternative music festival. We captured some of the bands in action on stage, but mostly we surveyed the grounds as fans, families, vendors and more lounged around the sprawling, colorful Camp North End site. It was a great day of music, food, fun, and sweet, autumn sunshine. (Photos by Mark Kemp)
