Sure, politicians lie. The public has come to expect it, but our mayor, who’s doing something that he said many times that he wasn’t going to do, lied both to the city and his own political party. McCrory, who holds the local record as the mayor who’s been in office the longest, won his seventh term in 2007 and immediately began looking for another job. Thanks, Pat! It’s not like other people didn’t want to be mayor: McCrory even had a fellow Republican, Ken Gjertsen, who wanted the job and faced the mayor in the primary. All the while, McCrory had plans to abandon the city and run for governor. He turned a part-time job of being the face of Charlotte into a bit part in this political drama, and for that (among other reasons), he sucks.
