Today's Book: This Is Just Exactly Like You by Drew Perry

Why this cover makes me want to buy this book: Because I wonder ... why is a giant gopher (if that's what that animal creature is) exactly like me?

Judge A Book By Its Cover: 'The Boy With the Cuckoo-Clock Heart'

OK, I have a confession to make: I'm a book nerd. I don't have time to read many, but I love reading the synopses of all the new books Creative Loafing gets to potentially review. Everyone here knows any packages with books must come to my desk first before they go on the bookshelf. And trust me, we get a lot of books.

I guess that's what inspired my newest feature here on Klepto, called "Judging a Book By Its Cover." The proverbial "they" always say not to judge a book by its cover — but why not? When I go shopping, I judge clothing and shoes based on their looks, not whose name is written on the label.

So as often as a book cover intrigues me, I'm going to post it up as a book recommendation. Not because the story sounds great or because a well-known author wrote it. Nope. It's my recommendation based solely on the cover.

Take that, whoever came up with the "don't judge a book" commandment.

Today's book: The Boy With the Cuckoo-Clock Heart by Mathias Malzieu.

What a great title, don't you know? And I know the photo doesn't translate so well the abstract designs and colors, but trust me, it's so pretty!
