Major fatalities reported in Spain plane crash:

An airplane heading to the Canary Islands came off the runway at a Madrid airport this morning. Unconfirmed local media reports say up to 50 people are dead. The crash may have been caused by a faulty engine on the aircraft. TELEGRAPH

Dave Matthews Band saxophonist dies:

Leroi Moore, saxophonist and founding member of the Dave Matthews Band died Tuesday unexpectedly at the age of 46. Moore died from complications stemming from complications he sustained in an ATV accident in June. Moore returned to his L.A. home to start an intense rehabilitation program. He died at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in Los Angeles. Huffingtonpost

Missile shield deal signed:

The U.S. and Poland signed an agreement to base U.S. ballistic missile interceptors in Poland, a move that upset Russia. The signing comes just days after the two countries agreed to a deal that will see 10 U.S. interceptor missiles place just 115 miles from Russia's westernmost frontier. Fox News

Tropical Storm Fay could be a "boomerang storm":

Tropical Storm Fay moved off Florida's east coast early Wednesday after causing at least seven reported tornadoes in eastern Florida. The storm is expected to strengthen alone Florida's Atlantic coastline. CNN

Bolt breaks world record in 200m:

Usain Bolt of Jamaica became the first man to win the 100 and 200 meter dash at the same Olympics since Carl Lewis. Bolt won the 200m with a time of 19.30. Michael Johnson had held the record of 19.32, set at the 1996 Olympic games in Atlanta. NY Times
