Shocker: Still no attention for Charlotte roads

I told you not to hold your breath when Gov. Perdue made a big I-485 promise two weeks ago. Not only will the city's cut of the stimulus bill not be used for the bypass, most of it won't be used in the city, either.

Next week, the Mecklenburg-Union Metropolitan Planning Organization will give final approval on $20 million in federal funding.

The funding will not include any major highway or interstate work in the city of Charlotte. The main chunk of funding will pay to widen N.C. Hwy. 73 between U.S. 21 and N.C. 115 in Huntersville.
