Check out these events going down in Charlotte and the surrounding area this weekend— as selected by the folks at Creative Loafing.

Fri., May 8

Theater: What goes around comes around in performances of Who’s Crying Now at McGlohon Theatre. The play follows the effects of karma and choosing between love or lust, deception or truth, and happiness or loyalty.

Film: It’s summer, so it’s time for Movies in the Park at Freedom Park. You can enjoy free popcorn, door prizes and a film screening of Horton Hears A Who at sunset.

Special Event: Head to Belk Theater for the Charlotte Symphony’s season finale, Berlin in Lights. Get there early for the pre-concert festival, which will feature German history displays and activities, German food and – last but not least – beer.

Sat., May 9

Festival: You can’t catch the swine flu from eating pork, so make your way to the Beer, Bourbon and BBQ Festival at Symphony Park at SouthPark Mall, where you can eat BBQ and indulge in 60 different kinds of beer and 40 different kinds of bourbon.
