Appreciation for beauty in all forms

No one woman is the same, and the COSHAR Foundation, Inc. for health education and empowerment understands this concept better than anyone.

To further emphasize this idea, and to bring a holistic new experience for women of color, the COSHAR Foundation is bringing a new event, “Beautiful Woman Inside and Out,” to Charlotte on Saturday, June 11 after its successful launch in Maryland in March.

As a true symbol of girl power, the national event is meant to celebrate women and spread awareness of the key issues they often face. And no, they don’t just mean deciding what shoes to wear or how to tell if a guy is interested in a date.

“Beautiful Woman Inside and Out” will give participants information from the country’s top wellness experts, dispel myths and give women the proper tools to enhance their appearance as well as their mental, physical and spiritual health.

Dr. Sharon Allison-Ottey, a nationally recognized speaker, author, health advocate and executive director of the COSHAR Foundation, said in a press release that she believes all women are beautiful, and this beauty is more than skin deep and does not come in the same “package.”

“Our goal is to ensure that women have the proper information, zeal and motivation to move towards improving all aspects of their lives,” Allison-Ottey said.

But don’t worry, participants aren’t just going to be lectured about their health all day. Attendees will also be treated to luxurious door prizes and raffle items, breakfast and lunch, entertainment, and other surprises.

“We are well aware of the health disparities that plague all women, and particularly women of color,” Allison-Ottey said. “Our objective is to address the ‘whole’ woman, and to help women make informed choices about their inner and outer beauty.

Due to growing popularity, “Beautiful Woman Inside and Out” will visit Atlanta and Los Angeles after Charlotte. A portion of the proceeds from each event will be donated to fight breast cancer and domestic violence. The conference is open to sponsors, vendors and authors.

The event will be held at the Westin Hotel in downtown Charlotte June 11, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, go to the foundation’s website at Tickets start at $66.
