On Feb. 13, local Paint Fumes' singer/guitarist Elijah Von Cramon was struck by a car as he walked home. Von Cramon suffered horrific injuries including a fractured pelvis, femur and shoulder, and months of rehabilitation will follow his extensive surgeries - as will six months in a wheelchair. Even with insurance, his bills would've been astronomical, adding years of mental anguish to the physical suffering (gotta love anti-national healthcare assholes). So, a bevy of local friends, musicians and sympathizers put this gig together to raise some much-needed dosh. Singling anyone out is almost unfair, but Last Year's Men, the Chapel Hill garage-rock kids (not sure if they're officially even old enough yet to drink) have an upcoming LP being recorded by legendary garage-soul songsmith Greg Cartwright (Reigning Sound, Oblivians). The young band's blend of punk energy and '60s garage melodies already resulted in 2010's fine debut, Sunny Down Snuff, so the quartet's future looks ridiculously bright. If enough folks show up, they can help put Von Cramon's and Paint Fumes' future back in the bright lane, too, as all proceeds go to his medical bills. With Joint D≠, The Orchidales, Dave and the Strange, Little Bull Lee, Ghost Bikini, Meat Group, Appalucia, Serfs, The Nervous Ticks, Boring Portals and a mess o' DJs. $10. March 16, 3 p.m. Tremont Music Hall, 400 W. Tremont Ave. 704-343-9494.
