Cedric Burnside Project playing Double Door Inn tonight (4/11/13)

The Cedric Burnside Project

Bred in the land of blues, Mississippi drummer, guitarist, singer and songwriter Cedric Burnside tosses a sprinkle of blues-rap into the mix on occasion but never strays far from tradition. The drunken twang of the guitar and feisty voice lend credence to his heritage. His grandfather, legendary hill-country bluesman R.L. Burnside, may no longer be on this earth to hear Cedric burn through the blues, but he'd sure be proud to hear his kin carry on the custom. Young Burnside played drums in the senior's band, but is as adept on an acoustic guitar while staring down a mic in the process. This is raw, juke-joint blues, where Cedric Burnside continues to etch his own legacy. $10. April 11, 9 p.m. Double Door Inn, 1218 Charlottetowne Ave. 704-376-1446.
