Your last chance to party with the pink and green

Posted By on Thu, Jul 17, 2014 at 6:11 PM

You may have noticed an influx of pink and green in Charlotte lately. This week, the women of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. descended upon the Q.C. to celebrate their 66th international conference.

Known as the first black-lettered Greek sorority and often seen as the prettiest ladies of them all, this organization prides itself on providing service to all mankind. While in town for the week, they have participated in a number of community service events, including their “Stop the Hunger Now Service Project.” At the Charlotte Convention Center in the Crown Ballroom, a sea of pink and green, along with a host of other volunteers, partnered together to pack food to be used in crisis situations and in feeding programs for schools and orphanages.

But as the week rolls on to an end, the AKAs are throwing on some heels, letting their hair down and preparing to go out with a bang. As the daughter of an AKA, I know what it’s like to be in the presence of such pretty faces. So I’ve highlighted the last few opportunities you have to make sure you are a part of their takeover.

First up, AKAs, make sure you check out this exclusive after-hour event that a special group of men are hosting especially for you. Tonight, the Charlotte Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. will be hosting their monthly social, “Cufflinks and Cocktails.” As you oh-so-pretty ladies grace us with your presence, you are being treated to an after-work cocktail experience at Sydney’s Martini and Wine Bar from 6 p.m.-10 p.m. Think great drinks, great conversation and music to add on to what has been accomplished during your conference.

What else?

The AKA Takeover: Plan to stay out late after work tonight and enjoy music by DJ Hukher in the intimate lounge of Studio Movie Grill from 6 p.m.- 2 a.m. Free admission until 9 p.m. with RSVP. General admission $15. Come enjoy the hype vibe and crowd that The Digital Divas' Tiffany Jones is known for bringing in the Charlotte area.

Pink and Green Boule: Presented by ICandy Enterprises, Pangaea United, Boys to Men Foundation and Yes of Charlotte, come out to Apostrophe Lounge tonight from 9 p.m.-2 a.m. and enjoy some music by DJ Boogie. Known for its intimate setting and great music, Apostrophe Lounge is the perfect place to chill out with a nice drink and recap with your sisters some highlights of this year’s conference.

All- White Day Party: Start your weekend early and hit up the Friday day party in your all-white outfit at Celebs Restaurant and Lounge, from 1 p.m.-6 p.m. Grab a drink and a friend and get to the dance floor. This is your last chance to make everlasting memories in the Queen City. Presented by Boys To Men Foundation, Yes of Charlotte, ICandy Enterprises and Pangea United, tickets are $15 and up in advance.

Pearlfection: This is your last chance to be a part of Charlotte nightlife and help wrap up the celebration before the ladies leave town. Come out Friday night and send them off with a lasting impression of the city that we love. Meet them in the lounge of Studio Movie Grill, on the last day of their international conference, come and enjoy some good music by Power 98 FM’s DJ LP and 103 Jamz’ Dominique Da Diva from 10 p.m.- 2:30a.m. VIP tickets and tables and are available.
