I promised myself I would cut back on my concert intake this year, and I did. A little bit. In 2012, I attended 101 concerts. For 2013, I'll finish with around 75. The difference? I have a daughter to stay home for. Mina (the German name for "love") turned 1 on Thanksgiving and she's plenty of reason to enjoy the nights I'm home. Sure, I've missed some great concerts, but she's always worth it. It's made me become a little more picky about which concerts I attend. I try to go to the ones I know I'll enjoy, the artists I'm curious to see perform live or the locals I know for a fact are worth a chance. With so much talent coming out of Charlotte on a regular basis, I thought I'd focus my annual photographic retrospective on the locals this year. I caught Matrimony at Bonnaroo, saw "F*cking Weird" things at the Chop Shop, enjoyed the return of Paint Fumes, celebrated Junior Astronomers' latest album and so much more.
