Mark Kano and Mike Garrigan to play The Evening Muse

Posted By on Thu, Jul 17, 2008 at 5:03 PM

The weekend is on its way and if you don't have plans for Saturday, July  19. , then here's a concert idea:

Mark Kano and Mike Garrigan, their names should ring a bell, but in case not I'll fill you in.  Kano fronted the Greensboro-based band Athenaeum, whose 2004 break up left him doing more of the solo thing (although the band occasionally reunites for gigs). Garrigan is also a solo artist and former member of the bands Collapsis and Athenaeum. Together, Garrigan and Kano are the perfect musical companions. When they played a show back in January at The Evening Muse, the duo filled the room with fans and performed a two-hour long set that fluctuated between new and old songs, including some Athenaeum favorites like "What I Didn't Know," "Flat Tire," and others.  Kano and Garrigan will perform at The Evening Muse on Sat., July 19. $8. 8 p.m. The Evening Muse, 3227 N. Davidson St. 704-376-3737. www.theeveningmuse.com.
