If you’re looking to ride home with conservative WBT-AM radio host and Loafing columnist Tara Servatius, you’re out of luck. According to a piece in the The Charlotte Observer today, Servatius met with WBT management at the end of her Thursday show and was told that she wouldn’t be returning.
“WBT will not be renewing its employment agreement with Tara Servatius,” said Heidi Raphael, vice president of corporate communication for Massachusetts-based Greater Media, which owns the station.
“We are grateful for Tara’s contributions to the station, and we wish her the best,” she said in a statement released Thursday night
Servatius spoke to us Friday morning and said that she will continue writing for CL, but couldn’t make any further comment about her release from WBT.

Nice ! .. Now CL needs to follow the WBT lead do the same …she should have been canned by both WBT and CL when she tried to get the rednecks to run over cyclists..
I’m glad she’s gone. Couldn’t stand her and her little girl laugh. Like glenn Beck, Boogey man around every corner.
Tara Servatius rocks! She is the best crime reporter and journalist in Charlotte by far…
WBT’s loss.
Tara was and is awesome. She are candid and did not dance around. We need more folks like are on the airwaves. Get her back on!
Don
Do you really beleive she tried to get “rednecks to run over cyclists” I listened and heard all of her comments concerning cyclists who do not obey the rules of the road and why they chance it, yet never heard her say “run over cyclists”.
What boob at WBT made this decision? Just another attempt by the left to stifle the free speech and communication of the issues by conservatives. To continue getting the news that the left in both parties doesn’t won’t you to get, tune into http://www.kste.com from 6pm to 9pm est to listen to Dr. Michael Savage live, or to http://www.wvoc.com from 8pm to 11pm est to listen to the replay. You’ll be glad you did.
I never listen to any AM talk radio, including WBT.
I never read Tara in CL anymore. Her columns sound just like the mindless propaganda that masquerades as news over at Fox.
I have never understood people who spend hours everyday listening to hate mongers layout conspiracy theories.
Cyclists I see on my busy street never obey the road rules…always running stop signs and riding up through traffic. Tara was just speaking the truth….
I enjoyed her wbt on-line “discussions” concerning
bicyclists who do not obey the road rules and continue to pay the price and acourse her “forensic journalism.//
Tara Servatius enjoyed spewing hate and lies about the poor, black people, the gay community, muslims, cyclists, and anyone that didn’t fit into her very narrow view. She turned WBT 1110 into a hate fest. She was famous for cutting off callers with opposing views and then berating them after they were off the air. The only time she would have a guest on her show with an opposing view was if she intended to slam them or play “gotcha”. In the end, nobody in public office would give her the time of day. One good thing that has happened is that I don’t think anyone in local media will touch her with a ten foot pole. She got hit with a trainload of karma and it was well deserved. I hope that WBT uses some wisdom when choosing her replacement.
OH DARN!!!! What will I do without her wonderfully accurate and thoughtful insights, like how Fox News is unbiased, and how cycling is an “epidemic”, as well as her respect for all people, especially “the ‘po”, as she calls poor people.
But seriously, what’s with Jamie at 6:11 pm, where he says “Just another attempt by the left to stifle the free speech and communication of the issues by conservatives.” I guess he missed the the part in the story that said WBT will not be renewing its employment agreement with Tara Servatius. Is Jamie assuming that WBT or Greater Media is part of “the left” (laugh track) that’s trying to stifle Tara’s free speech? And if the left IS trying to stifle Tara’s and other conservative’s free speech, how do you explain the fact that she still has a column at Creative Loafing?
It’s not about free speech. She expects to be paid to speak and WBT has chosen not to do that anymore.
There is a big difference between trying to keep you from speaking and just not paying you to spew your nonsense.
Hey Don – grow a pair – we need fewer pantywaists, of which you are one.

Those that are spewing all the negative personal comments about Tara are the people who can’t discuss a political subject with any real intelligence, therefore they make personal remarks about her and not the subject matter. You can disagree with her all you want but when you get personal, you show your own lack of intelligence. Calling her names because you don’t like what she says…you’re lucky you still live in a country that legally tolerates opposing views.
WBT cannot stand the truth
Listen anyone who didn’t like Tera should have just turned the channel. She is the only one that gave a true conservative opinion that you ignorant liberals couldn’t stand. I was very disappointed to hear that WBT is falling into the web of pressure from liberal media and the ever increasing “its ok” aspect that our society is turning in too. This new guy Jason Lewis who replaced here doesn’t give a opinion he’s just a voice with no “gumption”.
Don,
You’re way out of line. She simply pointed out the obvious; only a FOOL would bike in high traffic areas. Go to the park and ride and you probably will live to tell about it.
DLP
Yes, NBC and CBS are so very fair minded in their broadcasts. You’re a kool aid drinker.
well, never understood why she remained on the air in a liberal cestpool wanna be big city like charlotte anyways? i am sure someone outside the area with a real passion for truth in journalism will pick her up! this totally a blessing in disquise for her! AMEN!
Wow- talk about ‘hate’!– listen to yourselves! I found Tara refreshing and she shall be much missed by this lady. I didn’t agree 100% with her all the time, but she was gutsy, unafraid of speaking what many of us think and don’t have the opportunity to say, and exposed a lot of underlying issues in Charlotte. WBT lost a gem of a journalist when they lost her- the station is watered-down now. Their loss indeed!
