Friday, Feb. 20
Special Event: To kick-off the American Zombie: Politics, Horror and George A. Romeros Film Revolution event (which continues through Sunday with a variety of screenings and more in various locations) a screening of the horror flick Night of the Living Dead will go down at McGlohon Theatre. But, thats not it. Director George A. Romero will be attending and you can pick his brain during a special Q&A session.
Special Event: A woman of many words: poet, author and activist Nikki Giovanni will visit Alive.
Music: Listen to soulful melodies by solo artist Ben Sollee when he performs at Visulite Theatre.
Saturday, Feb. 21
Theater: Find out just how difficult motherhood can be, as Charlottes Off-Broadway presents Living Out, a play about Latina nannies and working mothers at the Great Aunt Stella Center.
Special Event: The 2009 HRC Carolinas Gala, a human rights campaign event is set to feature US Senator Kay Hagan and entertainment by Suzanne Westenhoefer.
Music: Enjoy an evening of legendary swing/jazz covers from Les Lankhorst, as he presents his show titled, Red, Hot & Swing. It all goes down at Booth Playhouse.
Sunday, Feb. 22
Theater: Check out a performance of Blue at Actors Theatre of Charlotte. The play follows the story of an African-American family and their booming funeral home business.
Food: Take a bite into a Cuban sandwich with roasted pork, ham, Swiss cheese, pickles and mustard from A Piece of Havana: Authentic Cuban Cuisine.
Special Event: Celebrate all things Venezuelan at Carnaval in Venezuela. The festivities will feature a costume contest, a parade, dancing, music, food and more.
