In recent years, trendy playwright Theresa Rebeck has taken us from the apocalyptic aftermath of 9/11 in Omnium Gatherum (produced here by CAST) to the perils of the singles scene in Bad Dates (Collaborative Arts). Now Actor’s Theatre of Charlotte takes its turn with Rebeck, bringing us her most recent Off-Broadway hit, The Scene. We’re moving into shark-infested marital waters, with A-list director Anne Marie Costa piloting the fierce comedy. Brian Robinson (profiled in our Arts section) stars as Charlie, drowning at midlife in his acting career, treading water in marriage, and an easy mark for a predatory Manhattan soiree seduction. $23-$28. June 6-28. Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7:30 p.m.; Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m.; Sunday, June 22 at 2:30 p.m. Actor’s Theatre of Charlotte, 650 E. Stonewall St. 704-342-2251. www.actorstheatrecharlotte.org.
