It’s perfectly clear that artist Robert Kushner is inspired by flowers. His textured paintings of the blossoms, among diverse-colored backgrounds, capture their detail from curve to curve. Kushner, who has been painting since his start on the American art scene in the early 1970s, has created works that can be found in galleries across the U.S. and abroad in the Tate Gallery in London, England, and the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, Italy. You can see his art in Charlotte at Jerald Melberg Gallery through Sept. 6. Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Jerald Melberg Gallery, 625 S. Sharon Amity Road. 704-365-3000. www.jeraldmelberg.com
