For the Birds (and Bees)

While I agree that Sex Ed is an important topic (“Sexual Fantasies,” by John Grooms, Nov. 30), the headline of Sexual Fantasies with a picture of a girl that looks 8 or 9 is bordering on Creative Loafing endorsing pedophilia. I don’t want to see a headline about sex with a picture of a child on the same page. That’s disgusting. You have her write that she must abstain. As someone who has 6- and 11-year-old nieces, they better abstain.

The girl who felt that CMS teaching that parents should be married was bashing her and her single mom had it all wrong. The article clearly sounded like the dead-beat dad was the one being bashed. It’s not CMS’ fault if someone can’t understand when they’re not being insulted. It’s not CMS’ job to teach this girl common sense.

As for teaching about condoms and birth control, that’s what your parents are for. Why is CMS being asked to raise the children of this community? CMS should stick to reading, writing, math, science and history. When I have children, I’ll educate them about sex ed. I was raised to be educated about every sex ed issue by my step-mom and dad. They didn’t expect the school system to teach me about the birds and the bees. If someone doesn’t know about sex ed, blame their parents.

And what’s wrong with teaching 7th graders that sex will harm their reputation? These are 12-year-olds. Do you perverts at CL want them having sex? Would you want a teacher teaching your minor child about abortion and sexual positions? And yes, there is lots of pressure from your family that you let them down when you’re pregnant outside of marriage. Do you not have parents and grandparents at CL?

Isn’t it a coincidence that abortion providers like NARAL and Planned Parenthood want to promote teen sex? The more sex, the more abortions they think they can con young girls into to get some money. It’s all about the cash for them.
