Welcome to North Carolina!

The next time you hear someone say that the N.C. Legislature’s drastic budget cuts will lead to more job creation, you have my permission to hit them in the face with a pie. Why? Unemployment figures for September were released the other day and — wouldn’t you know it? — North Carolina lost 22,000 jobs, which is more for that month than any other state.

What’s more, the majority of those lost jobs —- 13,700 — were in government, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, as analyzed by Wayne Faulkner of the Wilmington Star-News. Those jobs ended as a result of state budget cuts that either terminated state employees or forced local governments dependent on the state to cut their payrolls.

In case you’re wondering, half of all states reported declines in their jobless rates in September.

  1. You Moron. Businesses and taxpayers are suffocating under 100 years of Democrat legislation in NC and crippled with fear over Obama Care. And the ONLY jobs Government creates are Government Jobs. How friggin’ hard is that to comprehend?

  2. YOU Moron. When you slash government budgets, thousands of people get laid off, the unemployment rate goes up and the economy goes down.

Those thousands of former employees have less money to spend in all the local businesses, and you don’t save much money because they all wind up collecting unemployment compensation.

How friggin’ hard is THAT to comprehend?

People who offer simple solutions have usually not thought the problem through. Politicians who offer simple solutions are usually pandering to some group with an agenda.

  3. HOLLY CRAP!! You are one of those who believe that if Government spent more, the economy would get better. The last two years have blown that philosophy out of the water. If Government slashes it budget, then the people probably getting laid off are Government workers (i.e. NON producing workers).and yes, I include teachers in that group. In case you haven’t noticed, our Government at all levels (local, state, federal) is obscenely bloated and inefficient. But as a Liberal, you probably think it would be better if it were even bigger.

  4. PusInTheNose, the only thing that’s obscenely bloated is your self-importance if you think your ignorant tea party horseshit is even close to being an intelligent argument.
