Bill Maher was on the Tonight Show last night and brought his politics with him. Talking about the “birthers,” those people who’ve been spending way too much time worrying about Pres. Obama’s birth certificate, Maher summed up our current moment in history: “I will show you Obama’s birth certificate if you show me Sarah Palin’s high school diploma.”

Oh, Frank, you’re not seriously suggesting that Obama hasn’t shown his birth certificate, are you?
Hint: It was issued by the State of Hawaii, whose governor is a Republican who campaigned for McCain; and senior members of her administration have confirmed that Obama was born there.
Again, you can flog Frank with facts. You can feed them to him intravenously. You can show him the document and shove it down his throat …
But until his favorite conservative wackos tell him what to believe, he won’t change his “opinion.”
Facts are to Frank what toilets are to the rest of us.
