GIMME THE BALL: Party hostess Consuella Credit: Moye

We here at Creative Loafing have been fans of the local superstar known as Consuella for a long time. Over the years, we’ve written about the New Orleans native and former host of Power 98’s “Grind Time” a number of times — hell, in 2007 we even named her “Charlotte’s Sexiest Woman.”

But, this time around, we’re giving Consuella the cover treatment because she’s serving as the host for two ultra-cool CIAA events.

Thursday, Feb. 26, you can catch her leading the World Party Part 1 at Chima (139 S. Tryon St.). Sponsored by RushmoreDrive.com, One, WhoElseButMe and D. Saunders, this event (running from 8 p.m.-2 a.m.) features a Brazilian theme and music by DJ Johnnie Davis and DJ Daddy D. A limited number of $20 advance tickets are available for purchase at www.rushmoredrive.com/nightlife.

Then on Friday, Consuella will trek over to Nikko (1300 South Blvd., Suite F) for World Party Part 2. Fitting with the location (one of the city’s swankiest sushi spots) this party (going from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m.) will sport a Japanese flair — and will feature music by “The Tokyo Drama Queen” DJ Seiko. On top of that, local soul crooner Calvin Richardson will be in the house filming a brand-new music video. Limited advance tickets for this event cost $25 and are, again, for sale at www.rushmoredrive.com/nightlife.
