Tara Servatius, Creative Loafing reporter and columnist, won an award in the Southeast’s most competitive journalism contest. The Green Eyeshade Awards are given annually by the Society of Professional Journalists for articles and broadcast segments deemed by judges as the best in the previous calendar year in states from Virginia to Louisiana. Winners were announced on Saturday. Creative Loafing competed in the weekly/monthly category. Servatius tied for second place in the Serious Commentary category with Bob Norman of New Times Broward/Palm Beach. The alternative press dominated the weekly/monthly awards, with Creative Loafing in Atlanta and New Times Broward/Palm Beach winning six awards each.
