The heavily bearded (unless he has shaved due to summer heat) Sam Quinn (formerly of the everybodyfields) and Japan Ten are bringing their folk laden melodies back to the Q.C. The Knoxville-based group will perform at The Evening Muse and you can expect a romp of a show, as Quinn cracks jokes between songs rather vigorously. But don’t forget the music: The band’s songs are pleasant with lots of calming layers from thriving instruments, which include fiddle, bass, keys and guitars. With Samantha Crain & the Midnight Shivers. $8 in advance. 10:30 p.m. The Evening Muse, 3227 N. Davidson St. 704-376-3737. www.theeveningmuse.com.
