Looking for a good, cheap way to check out some local acts? Midtown Sundries has launched a new television show on Saturday nights to help showcase some of the area’s various artists.
The Sonic Lounge airs on Saturday nights at 11:35 p.m. on The CW — WJZY TV-46 (Channel 8 on cable). It’s a half-hour show that gives you four songs by the chosen band of the week and sometimes includes brief interviews and other information on the band.
Each week, one of the songs is my (Jeff Hahne’s) selection for “Song of the Week” on the show — a brief ad will let you know the song is up next. It’s a great way to hear some local talent from the comfort of your own home. The show isn’t focusing on any particular genre as some of the bands this season include Drop D, Parallel and Contagious Blues Band.
