Sure, she may look like professional gym rat, but Alysse Stewart is actually one of Charlotte’s most popular radio personalities.
You can hear Stewart every day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on WBAV-FM, V101.9 (the station that plays “Charlotte’s best variety of hits and oldies”).
Rocking the radio through the afternoon, she’s garnered the moniker “Charlotte’s Favorite Co-Worker.” Regarding the title, Stewart explains: “I’m on when a lot people are at work. Some people like their co-workers and some don’t. I, at least, won’t steal your lunch.”
She’s worked at WBAV for seven years and used to serve as the host of the late-night call-in and request show “The Love Zone.”
As you can see, Stewart is also an avid exercise enthusiast. She got hooked on fitness early, joining the track team when she was in the fourth grade. These days, she works out religiously at Charlotte-area branches of the YMCA. For folks interested in getting in shape, she advises: “A lot of people want shortcuts, but it really is like the Nike slogan: Just do it.”
When she’s not working or working out, Stewart spends time writing short stories.
