Shawn Lynch of too many bands to mention in a caption checks out CL

Hi there, Shawn Lynch here from TyreClodsHoustonPopBrothersDirtRocketFyre. CL asked me what I’ve been listening to recently, so here goes.

Matthew SweetKimi Ga Suki

Originally available in Japan only (an aural love letter to fans there), this record was written and recorded in a little over a week. I can’t stop listening to it! Easily his best record since “100% Fun,” this here disc runneth over wit’ loud guitars, big drums and super-tight harmonies. A must — for me, at least.

JetGet Born

Okay, so they ripped off “Lust For Life.” I’d rather hear that than the next CureBlondie VelvetsGaryNuman band that NYC craps out. These guys from Australia just wanna rock, like ev’ry young man should, and they do a damn fine job at it. Their next record should be great regardless, and hope for the future is a mighty fine thing to have in the rock & roll trade. Stiff upper lip, lads.

Bee GeesBee Gees 1st and Idea

I burned these two records onto a CD a few months back, and they’ve been in rotation ever since. These are their first two albums, released somewhere around ’66 and ’67, and they are chock full of all the late 60s goodies — psychedelic imagery, groovy Mellotrons, and no disco! Before they caught Saturday Night Fever, the boys had a real good thing goin’ on with outtasite brotherly harmonizing and deft songwriting chops. Anyone who hasn’t heard any Bee Gees prior to their murder of Sgt. Pepper should give these records a try. I likes ’em, anyways.
