Game on: A 36-year-old woman reported a burglary from her East Charlotte home. The thief, who smashed a rear bedroom window to gain access, stole a Nintendo Wii, an XBox, two PS3s, a Nintendo 3DS, a PSP, Wii games, XBox games, PS3 games, two laptops and a man’s watch. Presumably, the watch will be used to figure out how much time he is wasting playing video games.
Happy Halloween: A shoplifter was arrested after taking a six-pack of Heineken, baby clothes, a boppy pillow and a witch’s hat from a Charlotte-area WalMart on the day before Halloween.
Off duty: A 73-year-old South Charlotte woman received a call one day advising her that there was a warrant out for her arrest for not appearing for jury duty. The victim then, as advised, went to Rite-Aid, purchased two Green Dot debit cards totalling $1,000 and called the suspect back with the card numbers.
You have a jeep too?: Someone broke into a 2012 Jeep Wrangler parked at a South Boulevard apartment complex and stole some CDs, anxiety and seizure medication, a three-month supply of birth control and the vehicle’s owner’s manual.
Dirty bird: Employees at a Charlotte-area Family Dollar called police after someone entered their store and left with nearly $400 of Tide Pods concealed inside his jacket.
You break it, you buy it: One recent Wednesday night, a patron of a NoDa nightclub accidently knocked over a $80 hookah, breaking it. The person left without paying for the item. The business manager intends to sue for damages.
Got bugs?: Police responded to a shoplifting report at a Food Lion after the suspect concealed two cans of roach killer and two cans of indoor fogger in her purse.
