Tennis bigwigs are coming to town for some sort of tournament or whatever. Well, the lack of enthusiasm is due to the fact that the participants have all retired from regular play, so it’s mostly an old geezer tourney. This year, the Championships at The Palisades will feature Pete Sampras, Jim Courier, and Todd Martin among others. Yeah, this group of “geezers” are sure to heat up the court with a lively display of forehand, backhand, and even accidental winners. The tournament continues through September 30. These guys are not the old geezers but better tennis players than many of the new guys. I’d rather watch them play the old great style serve and volley combined with baseline tennis then watch a bunch of guys stand on the baseline and whack the ball back and forth.
