Hodges Taylor Gallery opens its space to Ugly Art: A Theatrical Installation tonight. The show — A Main Street Theatre Production directed by Jim Yost — is derived from five short plays written by Terry Roueche. It consists of a four-person cast — comprised of Sunny Boone, Elise DuQuette, Phil Robertson, Juan Carlos — who will perform a set of thought-provoking scenes (inspired by the posed question: “Do we find love, jealousy, beauty, passion or ugliness from the art in ourselves?”) in front of a red canvas on display in the gallery. Reservations required. For more information, e-mail info@hodgestaylor.com. $20 (includes light hors d’oeuvres and wine). Hodges Taylor Gallery, 401 N. Tryon St. 704-334-3799. www.hodgestaylor.com.
