Charlotte is just one of 16 lucky U.S. cities given the opportunity to host an official uncorking French wine tradition. Beaujolais Festival celebrates the tasting of “les premieres vendanges” or better known in English as “the first grapes harvested that year.” Sample the 2009 Beaujolais Nouveau, a very light, fruity wine, as well as other wines from the region, in addition to enjoying tasty morsels and live entertainment. Gather for a celebration that happens all over the world, without leaving home. $25-$30. 5 p.m. Levine Museum of the New South, 200 E. 7th St.
