An Elizabethan extravaganza is progressing over at Winthrop University. Due to Shakespeare Carolina’s partnership with the university’s Department of Theatre and Dance, folks in Rock Hill are getting a double dose of Mr. William Shakespeare. It all starts with Two Gentlemen of Verona. In the soap-like spectacle, friendships are in conflict and the utter foolishness of love takes to extremes. Stay tuned for another play, The Tempest, coming in August. $10-$15. 3 p.m. Winthrop University (held in Johnson Theatre), 115 Johnson Hall, Rock Hill. 803-323-2287. www.winthrop.edu/cvpa/theatredance.
