Patrick Cannon was put on house arrest today for casting a ballot in the midterm elections. Apparently, he didn’t know that convicted felons don’t get a say on who’s in office and thus violated his bond. He’ll be wearing electronic jewelry until Nov. 18, when he goes to prison for corruption.
According to WBTV, Cannon’s attorney called it “an honest mistake.” An honest mistake from a guy who posted a smiling selfie on Facebook a week after pleading guilty to a federal charge.
Did you catch that new goatee he’s sporting? Someone doesn’t want to be known as Baby Face in prison.
This article appears in Nov 5-11, 2014.

Cannon is simply the latest manifestation of the political class who simply believes that the law doesn’t apply to them. Jack Abramoff in an orange tie.
What I want to know is what the Observer knew when it chose to endorse Peacock over Cannon. The CO knew Peacock had no shot of winning in a Blue city against an Af-Am Democrat whose public persona rejected “Moral Monday” antics in favor of a quote/unquote “pro-business” approach.
So the most intriguing question in this saga, other than what tipped off the Feds that Pat could be bought for a fistful of Jacksons, is “What did Taylor Batten know, and when did he know it?”
JQP:
All politicians can be bought. Cannon’s mistake was accepting it directly instead of running it through his campaign funds like everyone else does.
What kind of NC attorney doesn’t know a convicted Felon cannot vote in this state?
BTW: This is called “Voter Fraud”.
