NRA leader Wayne LaPierre: I'd like you to meet my little friend

Has the NRA finally gone too far? To the amazement of many in border enforcement and, in general, to those living in the real world, the NRA is publicly opposing a measure designed to stem the flood of assault rifles to Mexican drug cartels. This doesn’t come as a surprise to those who’ve followed the NRA under the leadership of Wayne LaPierre, but it’s nonetheless stunning. The NRA is suing the federal government to block an executive rule requiring gun stores along the border with Mexico to report to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) when someone buys multiple “long guns,” such as AK-47s, which are the favorite weapon of Mexican drug cartels. I’m sorry, but if you can seriously oppose something as simple as letting the ATF know when someone buys a boatload of AK-47s within a few miles of the Mexican border, you’re either sociopathic or dumber than a box of bullets. Or maybe simply so far up the armaments industry’s butt, you can’t see straight.

Peter Forcelli, the ATF agent who blew the whistle on the idiotic Fast and Furious program — and whom the NRA has often cited as an expert — says the NRA is seriously off the mark with their lawsuit. Forcelli told the Political Correction blog, “the vast majority of ATF agents support the reporting requirement, because they know how it works.” Read the whole story here.

  1. I agree with the NRA what crook is going to buy an AK-47 from a gun store. Crooks and cartel dont buy guns legally Mr. Grooms.

  2. I also agree with the NRA. Not only because I agree with the previous comment, but also it would only be the beginning. There would be laws to follow that would greatly threaten our 2nd amendment rights. Look at London the past few weeks, innocent people and died because they couldn’t protect themselves.

  3. Funny, it ws the Obama administration who actually put guns in the hands of the Mexican drug cartels. Why did you forget to mention that?

  4. These posts are full of the most inane trolling gibberish I’ve seen yet.

Obama gave cartels guns? Why? When? Oh please do tell.

Criminals do what is easy, that’s the whole point of crime. You have absolutely no way of knowing whether they’d buy a gun in a shop or on the black market.

Slippery slope arguments are a classic logical fallacy, and just goes to prove the level most of you conservitard halfwits operate on. HERP DERP IF WE ALLOW GAYS TO MARRY HOW LONG BEFORE PEOPLE MARRY THEIR CATS, IF WE HAVE TO REPORT BUYING MULTIPLE ASSAULT WEAPONS TO THE ATF HOW LONG BEFORE THEY MAKE US REPORT EVERY BULLET WE BUY HUK

And it’s absolutely hilarious you think LESS people would have died in a RIOT if everyone was ARMED.

Do this country a favor all of you and beat your heads in with a rock, you’re doing nothing but bringing our national IQ average down.

  5. For the record I am a proud NRA member. But maybe there is something to this new law. Not all Americans are honest and trustworthy are they. What if they are buying them legally and selling them for huge profits. In a economy where most of us are hurting the allure of feeding our children and paying to keep our homes may be too much to pass up. That being said I am not happy about having my rights or anyone’s being trampled. But maybe we can do something on a temporary basis and monitor it for it’s effectiveness. If no results show in the first year then scrap it as another bad idea by the ATF and our semi communist government. I am sure I will be attacked so have at it…

  6. THIS ARTICLE SHOWS HOW 1 SIDED THE WRITER IS THINKING. COMPLETLY LEFT OUT HOW THE ATF AND CIA GAVE GUNS TO THE CARTELS DOWN SOUTH!! TYPICAL NEW AGE GOVT SPONSORED JOURNALISM!!

  7. They should band any type of weapon that can be used other than hunting or home protection.Theres no reson for anyone to own one. I am an avid believer in the NRA,but the line has to be drawn somewhere.I spent over two years in viet-nam and believe me I’ve seen more AKA’s and AK47’s and anything else the vietnamese could use to kill us with. Those guns were made to kill people with, and we here in the US thats a law biding citizen has no use for that kind of weapon. If you check it its money hungry americans who buy those weapons and sell them to the cartels for big money they get from the stupid drug addicts here in the US. So we are the bad ones ,not the cartels, they only supply what US idiots want,so whose really to blame THINK ABOUT IT PLEASE!!

  8. Brian Saunders, your ranting, ALL CAPS comment is about what I would expect from someone whose profile picture shows him holding a sign that reads, “I’m blind. Show me tits!” Oh, that wacky frat house humor.

  9. “And it’s absolutely hilarious you think LESS people would have died in a RIOT if everyone was ARMED.”

True. But the dead would be the bad guys rather than the good guys! I’ll take 20 dead bad guys over 5 dead good guys any day!
