So much for bipartisanship, compromise and putting the people first:
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) tamped down expectations about the repeal of health care reform on Thursday, saying that the only way that goal can truly be achieved is if voters help get rid of President Obama in 2012.McConnell stood by his recent comments that the “single most important thing” for the GOP to achieve in the new Congress is to make sure Obama doesn’t get a second term.
“Over the past week, some have said it was indelicate of me to suggest that our top political priority over the next two years should be to deny President Obama a second term in office,” McConnell will say at a speech to the conservative Heritage Foundation on Thursday at 11:00 a.m, according to his prepared remarks. “But the fact is, if our primary legislative goals are to repeal and replace the health spending bill; to end the bailouts; cut spending; and shrink the size and scope of government, the only way to do all these things it is to put someone in the White House who won’t veto any of these things. We can hope the President will start listening to the electorate after Tuesday’s election. But we can’t plan on it.”

Nowhere in his speech do I detect any kind of “vow to destroy” anyone or anything. He simply lists all the things the Republicans need to do in order to fulfill their campaign promises. Otherwise the voting population will be just as pissed at them as they were with the Dems. And when the Dems had full control of the house and senate, they did not want to compromise or listen to the American people.
Making sure that President Obama serves only one term has been the sole activity of the Republican Party for the last two years. Why would anyone expect it to be any different now?
The federal government will work exactly the same for the next two years as it has for the last two. The Democrats will try to run the country and the Republicans will block everything that comes up and appear on Fox News almost every day claiming that the Democrats won’t compromise by doing everything the Republican way. Then in 2012 they will claim that the Democrats have not done anything to fix the mess that the Republicans made when they were last in control.
Americans get exactly the government that they deserve. Voters get negative campaign ads because they work. Morons actually believe the lies and distortion thrown out in the ads, and vote accordingly. So you get deceitful, manipulative leaders. If you just paid attention to the campaign ads, you would know what they are before you vote for them.
If you think any politician cares about “the American People” you are deluded. They follow the money, and that is not YOU.
^ That.
I laugh every time I hear a Republican say they want to “shrink the size of government.”
