The PR folks at Bank of America aren’t gonna be too happy about a new television commercial being shown in the nation’s capital.  A progressive activist group, Americans United For Change, has produced a new TV ad that flails big banks as “pigs at the trough.” The ad is in favor of more strenuous regulations on big banks, as has been proposed by the Obama administration. In the past, AUC has coordinated their message with the national Democratic Party. That could be the case here, as the ad — which is only being run on Washington, D.C. cable — is primarily meant to be seen by Washington lawmakers and opinion leaders. The narrator’s fairly thick Southern accent is an odd touch, but you gotta admit, “pigs at the trough” is a catchy phrase that sums up how many Americans are feeling about banks these days. The only problem we see is that our porcine brothers and sisters may take offense at the comparison.
