May 4 -- May 10, 2006

Taurus
The Bull (April 20 -- May 19)

You and a significant other may be pondering a relationship at the next level. You are feeling on top of the world, as though nothing can possibly be difficult in this endeavor. A bit of caution will prevent troubles.

For All Signs If one could have a bird's eye view of the solar system this week, we would see a kite formation among the planets Jupiter, Uranus, Mars and the Sun. The symbolic kite always points in the direction of an event that must become manifest. Listen to your life for signals that an event, a situation or a meeting seems destined in some kind of way. Children born this week will naturally follow the path that is right for them and make few wrong turns in their lives.

Aries This may be one of the best weeks of the entire year for the Rams. Love life is rewarding. Activities involving family/home/property should have fortunate outcomes. You may have a brainstorm about the direction you need to take in the future.

Gemini It is imperative that you give attention to what your mind is doing this week. Focus your attention on a major mental project in order to prevent an attack of the critic (inner or outer). Set your negative thoughts aside and don't take them seriously.

Cancer Now is the time to initiate action that will take you in the direction you want to go. The energies are particularly fortunate in the areas of travel, the law, education, publishing and romance. Give special attention to one who enters your life on the 8th or 9th.

Leo Positive news comes your way from the areas of education, church, travel, the law or the Internet. You are coming to the finale time of a project begun in August. Ignore the inner or outer critic and enjoy.

Virgo Your attention is shifting into the areas of the law, publishing, education, the church and travel. There is a heavy mental project that you may be avoiding because you fear you cannot do it. Suspend those beliefs long enough to begin and you will be fine.

Libra Open your mind and heart to join with others in a community effort. Maybe you are creating a new group structure in which to enjoy a common interest. Romance is given a boost and a partnership may be in bloom.

Scorpio If you see an opportunity to travel now, go for it. You have fortunate aspects for dealing with those who are from a distance. This could happen on vacation, on the Internet, or at home with persons of another culture. Expand beyond your normal horizons now.

Sagittarius Suddenly things are coming together in ways you never thought possible. If you need financial assistance or help of any type, now is the time you will find it. For those working on a project of social significance, this is a time you will identify as a turning point.

Capricorn Good things come your way through home, hearth, family and property. You may have a major mental project that must be handled at this time. Give yourself time alone to concentrate so you can enjoy the good things fully.

Aquarius You have two choices on how you are going to feel this week. You can listen to the critic in yourself or others and agree with it, causing you to feel negative. Or you can free yourself from that beastie and move on out into the world of people and things.

Pisces This is a wonderful week for a getaway to somewhere near a body of water. Take your lover and head out to the lake, the ocean or somewhere that you have never been before! Expand your life in many ways. Open up now!

  • On Saturday, Oct. 21, hundreds gathered at Camp North End on Statesville Avenue for Charlotte's first black alternative music festival. We captured some of the bands in action on stage, but mostly we surveyed the grounds as fans, families, vendors and more lounged around the sprawling, colorful Camp North End site. It was a great day of music, food, fun, and sweet, autumn sunshine. (Photos by Mark Kemp)
