The Deal: Aggressive EBM champs, Combichrist pound through Charlotte on part 3 of their headlining tour.
The Good: The audience got an ear full of EBM, industrial and electro inspired songs. Angels on Acid, a Charlotte-based band began the show and impressed the crowd. Modulate played their hit “Skullfuck” and a remix of Faderhead’s “Dirty Grrls, Dirty Boys,” along with others. Imperative Reaction later emerged on stage playing a thorough and impressive set that included songs from their latest album As We Fall. Finally, Combichrist took the stage, stirring up even more commotion. Andy LaPlegua had an energetic and fearless stage presence that seemed to feed off the crowd. Combichrist played tracks off their newest album What The Fuck Is Wrong With You People? and off of older albums like Everybody Hates You. During each song, LaPlegua restlessly moved about, but during “Without Emotions” he slowed down a bit and sang in place. “Electrohead” was a true highlight, along with many more, each quaking up the dance floor.
The Bad: The crowd was fairly small. A packed room would have been nice.
The Verdict: A long show with four well-done performances and DJ Lechter. Definitely a show to see if you like to get your money’s worth.
