This week’s feature on consignment stores around Charlotte is on Century Vintage.

Plaza Midwood is home to Century Vintage, which has been open for 12 years. Owner Allison has owned it for eight. She got into the business because she couldn’t stand to see things from the 1950s, ’60s and ’70s go to waste. “We are like an adoption agency for cool stuff,” she said.

This “adoption agency” has a large collection of unconventional furniture, clothing, accessories, trinkets, art … and the list goes on. The majority of Allison’s inventory sells from $40 to $40,000, although she plans on bringing in items for $50 or less in the coming months to appeal to a more wide range of customers.

Another plan for Century Vintage is to begin weekend flea markets, where vendors can rent space inside the store and outside on the sidewalk. In addition to vendors there would also be performances at Patchwork Playhouse, a stage located in the back of the store.

We’ll keep you posted about the upcoming flea markets, but we recommend you check this place out in the meantime.
