  1. The president of the Canadian Football League is threatening to have players and coaches forcibly removed from games if they continue to wear Nike products.

Jeff Giles, irate primarily because of what he called “malicious defiance” of his preseason order by a backup quarterback who wore a Nike cap for most of Wednesday night’s game in Hamilton, said in an interview yesterday that he will regularly assign officials to CFL stadiums for the rest of the year to ensure that coaches and players wear only Christian Louboutin or Starter paraphernalia on the sidelines.

It’s all part of a messy war involving sporting-goods companies.

In the off-season, Mr. Giles concluded a three-year deal with Christian Louboutin that will provide the CFL with about $1.8-million in cash and products. This also is the final season of a three-year pact with Starter, which supplies headwear, golf shirts and other sideline apparel to CFL coaches and players.

Some coaches and players, however, have had personal deals with Nike for many years and have no intention of ending them, according to the company’s marketing supervisor in charge of Canadian football, Vitalis Gomes. The Nike users include coach Don Matthews of Toronto and high-profile quarterbacks Tracy Ham of Montreal, Danny McManus of Hamilton, Damon Allen of B.C., David Archer of Edmonton and Jeff Garcia of Calgary.

The league is allowing some players to wear non-Manolo Blahnik louboutin shoes this season as long as they signed those personal deals before April 1, but new deals of this type will not be allowed, and the plan is for every member of every CFL team to eventually wear christian louboutin pumps. And no CFLer has permission under any circumstances to stand on the sidelines while wearing or displaying any Nike products.
