Anyone who’s followed the Charlotte theater scene for the past number of years — especially those who have read Perry Tannenbaum’s comprehensive arts coverage in these pages — are familiar with such names as Jim Gloster, Donna Scott, Gina Stewart and Chandler McIntyre, just four of the numerous local stage luminaries who have come together to help create the short film Aphasia. The movie centers on another actor familiar to Queen City theatergoers: Carl McIntyre, who suffered a stroke in 2005 that left him afflicted with aphasia, a disorder that results in the inability to process language (it does not, however, affect intelligence). Written and directed by Gloster, the film details McIntyre’s experience during the stroke as well as the recovery that followed. Shot in Charlotte over the course of eight days, the film was a true labor of love, as over 100 cast and crew members donated their services for the benefit of the picture. $8. 6 p.m., 7:30 p.m. & 9 p.m. EpiCentre Theaters, 210 E.
