It’s a tale as old as time: boy meets girl, they fall in love, hitch despite their families’ hate for each other, boy and girl die in the name of love. Now, doesn’t that sound just like a Hallmark card? Jokes aside, if you got through ninth grade English (wait, that’s aiming a little high) — if you remember that movie with Leonardo DiCaprio and the guns, then you’re familiar with the Romeo and Juliet legend. Opera Carolina is pleased to present the world’s most famous love story sung in Italian as Roméo et Juliette. Don’t worry, a screen with English subtitles will be on display. Let love’s beautiful tragedy enthrall you all over again. 7:30 p.m. $15-$95. Belk Theater, Blumenthal Performing Arts Center, 130 N. Tryon St. 704-372-1000. www.operacarolina.org.
