Seekers of original art look no further, as the Charlotte Arts Catalyst is set to hold a silent auction, dubbed First Days. The event will feature more than 40 artists — including works by Anne-Blythe Moore, Ben Gelnett, Jessica Sea and Steve Chellis — which amounts to a lot of diversity. In addition, live jazz will be performed by Brent Bagwell, Michael Houseman and Troy Conn and experimental films by Ross Wilbanks will be screened. Money raised from the auction will go to help Charlotte Arts Catalyst establish its own center for creative arts and music. Free. 6 p.m.-10 p.m. (Bidding closes at 9 p.m. and winners will be announced at 9:15 p.m.) Reel Works Studios, 817 Hamilton St.

  1. Actually, I think that’s just fine. There might be ways to “federate” feature servers, so that groups of sites / companies / etc. can choose to run their own feature servers, but I don’t think this is something that should go all in one place by default. Features can be like real products for people and companies.
