Come one, come all! Step right to see something truly amazing … years ago, stories were performed using “magic” lanterns and rear projectors to create dancing shadows (ghosts) to frighten unsuspecting crowds. Phantasmagoria: Specters of Absence is hoping to re-animate this old art form invented in France in the late 18th century and re-frame it around contemporary issues like absence and loss. This traveling exhibition will be on display through April 26. Opening Reception: 6-9 p.m. McColl Center for Visual Art, 721 N. Tryon St. 704-332-5535. www.mccollcenter.org.
